GIMP (2.8) improvements

Most probably, GIMP 2.8 will yet be released 2009, so it has been time to have a look at the current developer version. There are many cool new features, but the most important thing for us are the layer groups.

GIMP 2.4 is finally out

In relation to my earlier post, GIMP 2.4 has released.

Yes, it is true. The very much awaited GIMP 2.4 is now available for download. Not only that, come and visit their website and see that they made such tremendous improvements compared to what they had before. Their website looks refreshing and they purposely made this to celebrate the release of GIMP 2.4. I wouldn’t be talking much of the content on their website ‘coz they deserve, the people behind GIMP, a visit from you guys. But don’t worry, below are links that you could jump start a tour. So grab a cup of coffee and be mystified by the simple yet very capable GIMP.

GIMP 2.4 RC3 released

For all GIMP Users out there who would want to try the bleeding edge of GIMP 2.4. Release Candidate 3 is now available for download.

 

So if you want to enjoy in getting your hands dirty, below is the link of the source code provided by gimp.org

Have a clean install of GIMP 2.4, a Release Candidate 2 packages for Ubuntu 7.04

Worry no more!!!

You can test the bleeding edge features of GIMP 2.4 in a Release Candidate 2. DEB Packages for Ubuntu will be installed without having to worry of dependencies so you will be able to make a very clean install and have a peace of mind.

GIMP 2.4 RC1 is out

I got an email newsletter from GIMPUSER.COM and you know what was it all about? It’s the much awaited GIMP 2.4 already had a first release candidate available for downloads with all the features present on GIMP 2.4 schedule for final release about some weeks now.

These changes from 2.3.19 to 2.4.rc1

• further improvement to the Print plug-in
• completed the color management functionality for 2.4
• store JPEG setting with the image and use them when again as JPEG file
• further improved the rectangle tools, in particular handling of the fixed aspect ratio
• added color profile selector widget
• further improved the display quality for zoomed-out views
