So you’re excited to upgrade from a development release of GIMP 2.7 to make use of it’s new features. But luck hasn’t been so good you, broke your stable GIMP install, stuck with the problem on the compilation, some pertinent libraries (gegl, libbabl, etc..) just magically gone away or cannot be used. You’re in the abyss of confusion on how to resurrect GIMP.
Now you decided to downgrade from 2.7 to 2.6 . Hmmm… was it easy? I hope so. But with GIMP running in Linux, particulary in Ubuntu, it’s been a struggle but it’s possible.
Let me share with you my discovery on how to downgrade from a failed GIMP 2.7 compilation/installation to GIMP 2.6 in Ubuntu Intrepid.

Most probably, GIMP 2.8 will yet be released 2009, so it has been time to have a look at the current developer version. There are many cool new features, but the most important thing for us are the layer groups.

I enjoyed reading the article for it’s kind of transparent in many ways. David did a comparisons of what GIMP can do, what it can’t and what workarounds you can apply. As I browse through the pages I was informed of sad truths that most of have, GIMP enthusiasts, probably knew. At least for the moments. Hello GIMP Community. As the Heart’s Day is fast approaching, I’ve made another simple free desktop wallpaper for you to use. I name this as It’s February Fourteen, A Valentine Wallpaper. Made this with GIMP accompanied with GIMP Brushes: Hearts for the heart shapes and the use of URW Gothic L for the type texture effect.

Are you finding a way to get around with GIMP? Do you consider yourself a noob with the application? Great news. I found a Flickr group called GIMP Beginners. Kind of a new kid in town to help everyone kick started with GIMP. Hahay! Another great example the power of Open Source community. Thumbs up to Erica Marshall (A Windows Systems Administrator by day and a photographer her on my spare time …. ) for creating GIMP Beginners.
