Nice one! Glad to hear that friend. Keep on rockin’ and usin’ Ubuntu. I like the content of your blog. Full of Ubuntu-ish topics.

    Hello,

Pardon me for commenting here in this part of your blog.

Sir my sister is an incoming senior in Ateneo de Manila University. She has a lot of artistic talent. I was just wondering if you have or if you are interested in putting up a multimedia company with her? She is a little bit shy and hesitant to take on new things and she could use the guidance and experience after her graduation.

Anyway, I can provide the office space for free here in paranaque – about 3mx3m – hehe at least until you guys are earning or at least for 6 months. Anyway, its just an idea – I can also provide the equipment.

Please if you are interested please email me at my email.

    Cheers!

And oh yes, I have downloaded 8.04, I think the one click install of proprietary drivers is very cool and convenient.

Only downside I see is boot time and GUI responsiveness – yung luma na niyang problem. :)

All in all, Ubuntu Hardy Rocks!

Thanks dannybuntu for this great opportunity. Is your sister into using F/OSS multimedia tools? I have to be honest with you, I am not a Multimedia monkey but rather a Web junky. The good thing is, I have a friend (by the name of Ragingmon) that is in to multimedia using F/OSS tools. View some sample of his craft @ http://ragingmon.deviantart.com/.

OT: Got to tell a little PR here. Been working very closely on our F/OSS Electronic Health Record System Project (codename/temporary name FFEHR)

Okay, I’m sorry I wasn’t able to reply immediately – no email notification of comments. I make comments everywhere that I keep forgetting where I did ;)

Anyway, she’s not yet into FOSS but I am trying to convince her to try.

I’ve looked at his work and they’re great. I’ll contact him once I managed to fix a lot of offline things that I have been wrangling with lately – like sending my kids to school :)

The Electronic Health Record System sounds pretty useful – one which a lot of people need. specially if you have kids. Which I do – have three! And I can’t remember which one has taken which vaccine. Well the wife does. :)

  7. andotyjazz says:

That’s completely fine Sir. I’m glad to hear you are determined on convincing your sister. Have you tested the FFEHR? We recently had a new release – http://foss-steps.blogspot.com/2008/06/ffehr-01b20080602-release.html. It’s still in beta, so feel free file a ticket.

My upgrade was more of an “ungrade”. After upgrading to 8.04 ( using the GUI method ) my Ubuntu installation no longer prompts when doing things that require admin ( root ) level rights. Normally when running as a non-root user the system prompts for the Admin password to install/uninstall software or change system level settings. Now, I just get … nothing. Only after switching user ( su ) to root and then running the command will things proceed.

  9. andotyjazz says:

Hi khurt. Hmmm, that’s strange. I have had a clean upgrade. It prompts for admin password that need root privileges and also there is an unlock button on GUI such as this, http://angpilipinogimp.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/unlock-admin-privileges.png

I’m sorry but I can’t recommend you a work around. But if you’re definite that it’s a bug, please post it https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+bugs. Thanks again.
