GIMP 2.4 is finally out

In relation to my earlier post, GIMP 2.4 has released.

Yes, it is true. The very much awaited GIMP 2.4 is now available for download. Not only that, come and visit their website and see that they made such tremendous improvements compared to what they had before. Their website looks refreshing and they purposely made this to celebrate the release of GIMP 2.4. I wouldn’t be talking much of the content on their website ‘coz they deserve, the people behind GIMP, a visit from you guys. But don’t worry, below are links that you could jump start a tour. So grab a cup of coffee and be mystified by the simple yet very capable GIMP.

Final released of GIMP 2.4 is scheduled this October

Our good friends at gimpusers.com provided us some really good news. Below is the excerpt.

Long time, no news for the GIMP. Maybe the so called calm before the storm. The release of the next stable version (GIMP 2.4) is planned for October 24th. The date is not yet officially announced but the developers have discussed this recently in the GIMP IRC chat. Also the date – the 24th – would fit with the release version. We’ll keep you up-to-date!

Clear Weave : Free Desktop Wallpapers

I’ve been thinking of giving away Desktop Wallpapers especially created with GIMP and then ponder…. Ok, here it goes. This piece of work is called Clear Weave – The Ang Pilipino GIMP special edition wallpapers. Available in Aqua and Ubuntu flavors and is the first freebie that I’m giving away and sharing to the public, the community.

The GIMP – In between those giants

I was quite amazed and surprised when I stumbled upon a blog entry entitled Popular Post Production Software from digital Photography School wherein they have conducted a reader question “Which Post Production Software do you use?” It lead to roughly 200 readers/respondents who had mentioned their preferences from professional to online to free software tools. A lot of our GIMP users/enthusiasts/guerrillas raised GIMP as their preferred tool and they were the very reason behind the result (graph) below.

For all GIMP Users out there who would want to try the bleeding edge of GIMP 2.4. Release Candidate 3 is now available for download.
